Up to date

February 2012 and the year is already starting to fly by!

My two biggest family projects for  this year are favours for my son's wedding and my borther-in-laws wedding - my son gets married in the UK in June, and my brother and sister in  law who are getting married in  New York. Pendants for the ladies and cufflinks for the gents are a little different to chocolates or sugared almonds - but should definitely last longer!

I am still working with Nikki Harwood,  a Goldsmith, who has been setting my glass as pendants and rings - alongside her own  unique sterling silver jewellery. It is fantastic to see my art glass  both on its own and set in sterling silver.

We attended Martinborough Fair for the first time and are back there on the first Saturday in February. We were delighted when a Wiararapa  radio journalist was heard describing our stall as "possibly the best at the Fair"!

Frank Kitts has opened again - it was closed for five weeks,  the peak season and apologies to anyone who tried to find the fair over most of January.

Still loving creating the art glass and experimenting!

See you at the Frank Kitts Craft Fair on  any Saturday 10-4.

I will however be in the Uk from mid May to mid June so wont be at Frank Kitts, but in Bournemouth UK celebrating my son's wedding and catching up with family and friends.

I love dichroic glass - and my pendants reflect that! The colours are just awesome. I am always being asked about dichroic glass  - up to 30 layers of metal(gold, silver) and metal oxides (titanium, zinc, magnesium and others) are sprayed onto glass in a vaccuum - the many layers only total 30-35millionths of an inch in thickness. The metal refracts light and the glass shows different colous as it moved in the light.  No two items are the same - even if I do try to replicate!

The photo below does not quite do the art-glass pieces justice as they are beautiful, irridescent and rich in colour and so much more vibrant in reality
